The fallacies of freedom

We think we walk free

Yet we walk chained

And tied

To our perceptions

Enslaved by our prejudices

Confined by the limitations

Of our narrow minds

We think we are free

Yet we are caged

By our desires

A captive of our

Material possessions

Imprisoned in the

Glory of the past

Or trapped in

Nursing wounds

Of an embittered past

We think we live free

Yet we remain

Locked in an ennui

Feet firmly ensconced

in the arms of security

We trade our dreams

For money

Tuck away our

Streaks of madness

For the mask of

Social acceptability

And we all run together

Trying to ace an ephemeral race
