Looking Glass

Sitting in a quiet corner
in a surreptitious manner

She drank in life’s myriad shades
She felt the dew settle on the grass blades

Nothing ever escaped her sharp gaze
She could fathom this enigmatic maze

She saw life’s intricate patterns from close enough
She observed the smooth and the rough

Yet no one stopped to look at her
For the world whizzed by in a blur

She got lost when the world made haste
She’s gone missing since there’s no time to waste

In a bid to become actors in control of our fate
We buried her when we bit this bait

We live in a world where you act before you think
Where sword is mightier than words in ink

Yes she’s none other than the art of quiet introspection
This maddening pace, the whizzing lives left no space for reflection
