Optimism, hope and foolishness
Learning the ropes and making a mess
The fountain of youth is something we possess with pride
Untill life shows its patterns and take us for a ride
We shed spontaneity and the ability to trust
Cynicism touches us and hope does rust
We watch each step and stride we take
We learn to put behind us the tumultuous emotions and heartbreak
We mask our feelings, thoughts and emotion
and tread so carefully donning the cloak of caution
Sometimes in this bid to safe from danger and strife
We drift away from the essence of life
We forget how to move on,forgive
We would rather get it all than give
We think twice before flashing a smile
Rue over going an extra mile
We end up becoming the skeptical cynics
Somewhere loosing life’s real rhythm and lyrics
