Justice Denied ??

19 years back when Ruchika Girhotra a 14-year-old budding tennis player visited the then IG Haryana SPS Rathore, she had no inkling of the trauma to follow, little did she know her dreams and promising life will be nipped in the bud.. The man who molested her :SPS Rathore hogs the front pages of newspapers today with a smug smile on his face. He is blatantly making a mockery of the loopholes in our judiciary .He has been fined a meagre 1,000 rupees and a mere 6 months in remand. This case and more like these scream loudly for the need for more stringent laws against child sexual abuse. After 19 years of battling it out Ruchika’s friend Aradhana is still determined to get justice for Ruchika who committed suicide after she and her family were subjected to humiliation since they dared to stand up against a man in uniform who managed to pull a few strings and walk scot free..Justice delayed shouldn’t be denied..the judiciary must mete out a punishment which is befitting for a man who not only violated a young girl, trampled upon her life and subjected her entire family to pain.. The judgement  should set a precedent , act as a deterrent so that no Rathore can ever dare to walk free after such a heinous act.

  1. Legal reforms are needed; Justice delayed is justice denied. Ruchika’s fatehr says that if the FIR would have been lodged immediately followed by a speedy trial then probably she would have been alive(As told to Barkha Dutt, NDTV).
